Biography

Anna Camilla Moonen is Associate Professor in Agronomy and Field
Crops at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa, Italy. She graduated at
WUR, The Netherlands, and obtained her PhD in ‘Sustainable
Agriculture and Food Quality’ at the University of Pisa, Italy. Her
research focuses on agroecological co-design of sustainable
cropping systems with a special interest in field margin management,
the use of cover crops to manage weed communities, and functional
agrobiodiversity in arable and horticultural cropping systems for
integrated weed and pest management.
She was/is WP leader in the following EU projects: the KBBE_2012
Project QUESSA on ‘Quantification of Ecological Services of Semi-
Natural Habitat’ (www.quessa.eu), H2020_2017 Project IWMPRAISE
on ‘Integrated Weed Management: PRActical Implementation and
Solutions for Europe ‘(www.iwmpraise.eu), the H2020_2019_2
project FRAMEwork on ‘Farmer clusters for Realising
Agrobiodiversity Management across Ecosystems’
(https://www.framework-biodiversity.eu). She participates in H2020-
SFS-2020-1 project IPMWORKS on ‘An EU-wide farm network
demonstrating and promoting cost-effective IPM strategies’. She also
is a tutor in the training course on Sustainable Use of Pesticides, with
a focus on Integrated Pest Management’ of the ‘Better Training for
Safer Food’ Programme of the EU (CHAFEA_2017_9613).
